I’ll tell you a tale
That was once told to me,
about a witch
That lives at number three.
Just down the road,
and around the bend,
is she plain wicked, or is she a friend?
You’ll know it’s the right house
When you see a broomstick by the door,
Ready for her to ride:
Through the night sky she’ll soar!
Weaving through clouds
in the dead of the night,
Swooping down on children
To give them a fright!
When you’re at her front step
There’s a jack-o’-lantern in place,
With a flickering candle
Illuminating its sinister face.
And now, children a decision
you must make:
Do you choose to be brave,
or scarper from this place?
Oh, did I forget to tell you?
She’s got a pet frog:
It has green slimy skin,
and barks like a dog!
How do you get past him?
Well it’s no mean feat,
But feed him a bone,
If you want to trick or treat!
When you’ve made it past him,
And you’re at the front door,
You’ll have made it further
Than many others before!
You must now grab the door knocker
And rap it threes times,
Whilst reciting this ancient
and ominous rhyme:
“Oh old frightful witch
I have no fear of thee:
Bring me your treats,
There’s no scaring me!”
But what happens next?

Because no child has ever returned
from house number 3…
